People with bad credit are far more likely to be accepted for a secured loan
than for any other type of loan. This is because the lender will be provided the
security not offered by your credit history in the form of collateral. So, if
you have a bad credit history then you do not necessarily need to seek a lender
who specialises in bad credit secured loans or other bad credit loans - which
often means you pay over the odds. As long as you have enough free equity in your
home you are well within your rights in applying for a UK secured loan.

Of course, every lender has different requirements and will see applicants
for bad credit loans differently. If you have a bad credit history then you will
not automatically be accepted by the first secured loan provider that you apply
to, but this rule will apply for all intended borrowers. If you have a poor credit
history then a secured loan is probably the form of credit best suited to your
needs.
Remember that if your application is refused that, although you cannot ask
the loan provider for their reasons, you can request a copy of your personal credit
report. Simply ask the loan provider which credit reference agency they used and
contact the agency they put forward. For a small fee you will be allowed access
to your individual credit report. To read more about how your secured loan application
